FAQs
What is SEO?
SEO — search engine optimisation — is the process of improving the performance & visibility of your website in relation to search engine algorithms. SEO aims to drive more traffic & better traffic by sending the right signals to Google & other search engines that your website is exactly what its users are looking for. The practice of SEO improves organic traffic — that's traffic coming to your website by clicking on an unpaid search result.
And organic traffic tends to be the most qualified. But then, you already knew that, didn't you — it's why you're here!
I see SEO as more than just checking the right boxes when it comes to technical foundations, content, design, relevance, engagement, mobile-friendliness & more. You're business's goals & aspirations guide my approach to SEO services as I identify the best avenues to driving traffic, leads, conversions, & revenue. Future-forward, customised SEO strategies help your domain reach higher SERP positions in front of the right audience.
What does it mean to stay up-to-date in SEO? Today, websites are ten a penny, resulting in digital clutter & noise for the consumer. Google & other search engines are constantly innovating & upgrading their algorithms to filter out this noise. It's my job to stay one step ahead.
SEARCH RESULTS VISIBILITY WHEN & WHERE IT MATTERS
SEO improves the volume of traffic to your site, typically by ranking as high as possible in search engine results pages for queries by your target audience, in order to drive more business. Up to 92% of searchers click on results on the first page. Less than 6% of searchers click on a result on the second page. My job as your SEO consultant is getting you in front of that 92% that's most interested in your website's products, services, & information.
But whole niches & industries are vying for the top page, & for good reason. This is where warm leads reside. At the top, there's more potential for brand awareness & credibility, better sales & customer loyalty. So, getting there is not easy, as you would expect. To compete, you need digital marketing expertise — I've got 18 years of that — plus cutting edge solutions & smart strategies. I've got those, too. I can help you save time & money with ROI-focused SEO strategies that optimise cost-efficient tactics with clear paths to revenue growth.
With all that goes into SEO services, & all the competition you face on any SERP — not to mention the constantly evolving search engine algorithms — you need expert support from a professional SEO service provider.
Does SEO Still Work?
Yes, SEO still works! Not only because it can get you to the top of the results page, but more importantly because it leads to better leads & bigger sales. SEO works because it provides both short-term gains & long-term, lasting results. Improving your SERP rankings is good, but only when it drives better-qualified leads, higher conversion rates, & larger orders — all adding up to more revenue.
Achieving these key business goals requires multifaceted SEO techniques & strategies that leverage multidisciplinary concepts. Data analysis, behavioural observation, web design, content, marketing — SEO takes experts in all these fields & more to reach success. The best website SEO services & strategies align technical, marketing, & sales considerations into techniques that affect your bottom line.
SEO only works when you're doing it right. We've been doing it right for just about two decades now, with the results to prove it.

SENDING THE RIGHT SIGNALS TO SEARCH ENGINES WITH TECHNICAL SEO
It's not just users that want a better experience on your site. Search engine crawlers do, too. Neglecting the bots means that your SEO ambitions will remain unattainable. My proven technical SEO audit process checks for over 180 potential issues, prioritising them by the level of effort it will take to fix them & impact their resolution will have on your SEO, so you can see greater impact sooner. To rank highly, search engines expect your website to:
Be highly navigable. A number of technical SEO issues can block search engines from crawling & indexing your site. What good is great content & on-page optimisations if search engines can't find them? I look at aspects such as robots.txt files, metadata implementation, & more technical elements to make your website crawler-friendly. That maximises your potential for ranking high & driving traffic.
Have logical information architecture. After ensuring an error-free technical foundation, I look to the organisation & hierarchy of your website's individual pages, or it's information architecture. Internal linking for SEO connects crawlers to similar pages & highlights the logical path through your site. This improves crawler efficiency, leading to higher keyword rankings.
Be credible & authoritative. Beyond the content on your website, search engines look at external links to gauge credibility, trustworthiness, & authority. When you have inbound & outbound links to other authoritative sites, search engine bots rate your brand as trustable. These search engine crawlers will ensure that your site's indexing is up-to-date as they do for popular websites. I can tap link building services to build site authority & improve rankings.
Use search-friendly URLs. The best websites, according to search engines, use URL structures that include the right keywords. Before even crawling the page, search engines begin to understand a site's content based on its URL.
Does technical SEO pay off? Absolutely.
DEMONSTRATING VALUE TO USERS WITH ON-PAGE SEO
When it comes to on-page SEO, most businesses are brilliant at what they do. You're probably already publishing rich, informative content & using high-volume keywords throughout. Your homepage, undoubtedly, features a fantastic design & easy-to-use experience.
I can re-evaluate your strategy to on-page SEO & find places where optimisation can add even more value. My expert & data-driven on-page SEO techniques can get you to the top with:
Keyword research, selection, & optimisation. Keywords play a vital role in your website's ranking. More importantly, selecting the right keywords can make all the difference — Ahrefs calculates that "0.16% of the most popular keywords are responsible for 60.67% of all searches." The right keywords can boost your position in the industry or location & improve your relevancy with regard to user queries. Keyword optimisation will drive the right traffic to your website—warm leads that take little time to convert to sales. My SEO services focus on the importance of keyword intent & its relevance along the buyer's journey.
Content optimisation. Content is the foundation of SEO. Good content is original, relevant, the right length & easily readable. It's also laser-focused on the audience most important to your business, most likely to convert into a customer. My SEO management services include content optimisation recommendations, which leads to better rankings & increased user engagement. We've helped hundreds of businesses like yours improve search rankings by identifying content improvements, such as copy updates & faster-loading images, as well as content development opportunities from blogs & landing pages to high-quality infographics & videos.
Titles & meta descriptions. When you have little time to read a book, you scan the titles & list of contents. Search engine bots do the same for your site when establishing its relevance & ranking score in relation to a user query. I can help you rank higher with our title & meta description strategies, including keyword optimisation & advanced copywriting.
Strategic internal linking. This approach elevates the find-ability of your pages. This is critical, especially if you want to improve awareness of your additional products & services. A well-interlinked site, internally, can increase the time that users spend on the website. In turn, that tells search engines that you have what users need & are therefore deserving of a higher ranking.
Let's make your site a high-ranking, high-converting powerhouse with technical & on-page SEO tactics.
Understanding Search Engine Algorithms: How Long Do SEO Results Take?
Generally, it takes 4 to 6 months to start seeing significant SEO results in traffic & conversions. Often, however, quick wins such as improved keyword rankings can happen in as little as 4-6 weeks. Typically, it depends on the complexity of the project & the level of competition in your industry, niche, or target audience.
SEO needs consistency as well as continuous strategy improvement — & the best SEO services provide just that. The whole practice of SEO is based on search engine algorithms & their ranking criteria. These algorithms may get hundreds of updates & upgrades in a year. The right SEO should be agile to these changes & know where the algorithms are headed next for tangible results. SEO is best approached as a long-term engagement.
Understanding the long-term effects of SEO allows for strategic integration with other marketing tactics to enable a well-rounded approach. I can help you plan for lasting results while shoring up major issues to land quick wins in the short-term.

Local SEO Services: What is Local SEO?
Local SEO is focused on improving the performance of your website in search results with location-based intent. It leads to an increase in sales in brick & mortar stores, more phone calls to your local branches, & improved visibility among your competitors on map listings.
How can I assist you with local SEO services? Well, I've helped other clients…
- Turn a slow season into a surprise success
- Achieve 1,000% ROI with local SEO
With my proven local SEO game plan, you can experience the benefits of greater local search visibility: more foot traffic, calls, & clicks. For optimal local search performance & ROI, you need somebody who's been around the block more than a few times. With 18+ years in this business, I've developed industry-leading tactics. I start by… Taking a fresh look at your location pages. I find ways to help Google (and other search engines) understand your content's local elements better. That entails optimising your title tags & metadata with your city name, local address & maps. This can also include local keyword-optimised content that positions you as a local authority.
Checking for the correct local business schema. That entails adding code to your web pages for search bots to understand your location & products & services better. The structured data markup gives your site a boost in relevancy & credibility by speaking the language of search engine bots.
Creating and/or optimising a Google My Business Page for your business locations. I have found that filling & optimising this listing significantly improves ranking on local search. My optimisations tactics involve using short, long, & related keywords in the descriptions to maximise your chances of getting into the Local Pack. I also leverage Google Map citations, geotagged photos, Google Directions, geotagged YouTube videos, embedded map links, & more.
Other of our local SEO tactics include capitalising on reviews, directory listings & media mentions. You don't need to rely on paid advertising to capture local interest. Organic local SEO can drive traffic to your locations — in person & online — to improve your marketing ROI.
Whether your business has one location or thousands, I get you the visibility you need with local SEO services focused on driving revenue.
eCommerce SEO Services: What is E-Commerce SEO?
eCommerce SEO is search engine optimisation geared towards making your online store more visible & findable. I get you to where shoppers are. I improve your eCommerce website's ranking & position your products before the right buyers. I enhance the experience on your site, build trust & elevate your brand's awareness among the right audience.
I take a unique approach to eCommerce SEO services to address the specific challenges of selling products online. That can include:
Website restructures. You need a better website structure to display your different products & services to both users & search engine bots. I can help you get a better site structure with clean URLs & breadcrumb navigation. Already have a new design on the horizon? I can also make sure the site migration goes off without a hitch.
eCommerce keyword optimisation. For a higher ranking, higher traffic volume & more sales, you need keywords with a high search volume — & the right intent behind them. My keyword research for eCommerce SEO entails analysing search behaviours, relevant phrases, & words with a high search volume. Want your products seen without relying solely on paid search — & even reduce your cost per click with data insights? Talk to me now.
Enhanced crawlability. It's critical that search engine bots should find your product & service pages with ease. I'm on standby to make site edits that improve layout, responsiveness & navigability. It's easy to inadvertently sabotage your SEO efforts by trying to create the best user experience possible. Facets & filters are great for finding what the user needs, but have to be properly managed to keep them from creating thousands of duplicate pages.
Improved product descriptions. It's fundamental that your content builds trust & shows how your offerings can add value to users. You also need unique content, not just what came from the manufacturer. Use keywords for better relevance & show feature-function-benefits connections. I'm here to assist you in upping your messaging & engagement tactics to show search engines & visitors alike that you are the best.
Optimised analytics & tracking. I can help you achieve predictable & scalable growth in sales with my advanced eCommerce analytics solutions. These solutions provide deep insights into how users browse your site, how long they stay there, what pages they view, & what happens in the checkout process. The analytical data reveals better ways to optimise your site for an enhanced online buying experience.
Mobile eCommerce optimisation. Optimising your eCommerce site for mobile shoppers & mobile search results is a must. Use my specialised mobile SEO services to increase your website's navigability, speed & user interface on mobile devices.
Correct schema markups. I can implement codes that help you get better rankings for your eCommerce site. Do you know the correct schema to use to land a feature in Google's Answer Box & rich snippets?
Category page optimisations. Let's help you create creative & user-customised content for your product categories. I can optimise these pages with proven approaches, including keywords, H1 Tags, images & internal links. What I do will distinguish your brand & offerings from competitors.
My eCommerce SEO services focus on improving revenue & maximising ROI.
Enterprise SEO Services: What is Enterprise SEO?
When you have several websites for your eCommerce store or a multinational company, LJ Digital is the SEO consultant to call. Enterprise SEO is large-scale search engine optimisation meant for brands with multiple websites or an e-commerce website with thousands of pages. I provide enterprise SEO services that push better performance for each of your sites & pages.
I have solutions to enhance your ROI visibility so that these enterprise SEO strategies, combined with my eCommerce, technical, & local SEO approaches, will give you the competitive advantage you need. A sampling of our approach to enterprise SEO includes:
Crawl optimisation. Based on your server logs, I identify opportunities to improve your site for better search engine crawler experience. With the large quantity & scale of enterprise content, webpages, resources, & other online touch-points, you need a tailored approach to get everything ranked — & in front of your audience.
Composite metrics. You're collecting a ton of data — but what does it mean as a whole, from an integrated perspective? By parsing & combining large data points, I can identify opportunities at scale & better prioritise our strategy. Better metrics mean better performance.
Reporting on gaps & opportunities. You need to monitor not just your own SEO performance, but your competitors', too. Ongoing reporting identifies gaps in content you need to fill to stay competitive. It also identifies expansion opportunities to forge new frontier throughout your audience's buying journey.
See how I've helped other enterprise clients reach their goals with these exciting case studies.
Comprehensive & Transparent SEO Analytics & Tracking
My SEO services lead you to sustainable traffic volumes & better search engine rankings. But SEO strategies need a plan to measure, track, & optimise performance continually. For long term growth & profitability, work with my SEO management services in your niche. I'll audit your analytics & tracking, then optimise it to ensure I get the right data to inform our strategic SEO decisions. That allows for:
A multifaceted strategic approach. It takes more than just one strategy to get the best results with search engine optimisation. With the right analytics & data insights, I help you identify the best path to organic search marketing success. When you work with a digital marketing expert, you can expect a comprehensive implementation of SEO that leads to explosive growth now & for a long time to come — & the analytics data to prove ROI.
Research & testing. It's time you switched to data-driven SEO services. At LJ Digital, every SEO strategy builds upon findings from researching algorithmic trends, analysing web user behaviours, understanding your brand & offerings, & gathering data on your competitors. When you work with me, you can expect laser-focused approaches with a proven impact on your revenue.
Analysis & improvement. An SEO implementation approach is only as effective as its performance testing. The field of organic search is a volatile one with regular changes in search engine algorithms, search trends, competition & many other elements. Campaign performance also fluctuates across & throughout buyer journeys. Understanding, predicting, & preparing for these contingencies is what sets Digital Current apart from the pack. Periodic testing & re-optimisation can help keep your site at the top of search engine results for a long time — but only if you consistently measure & commit to ongoing evolutions.
I optimise analytics & tracking to constantly measure performance & keep SEO strategies as nimble as the search engines themselves.
User Experience (UX) & SEO
Your site works — but is it providing the optimal user experience? & does it, at the same time, provide the best route for search engine bots, so you get the rankings & traffic you deserve?
My SEO services employ hyper-targeted technical approaches built for traffic volumes. Here's just a few ways I address the user experience as part of ongoing SEO strategies:
Does your site load quickly enough? Users — & search engines — want it to load fast. Every 100 milliseconds in page load delay can lead to a one percent reduction in sales. My SEO services can help improve your site load speed for higher traffic volumes & better rankings.
Is your site organised & intuitive? Clutter confuses. Too many — or too few — buttons, menus, CTAs, & links increase the bounce rate on your site, diverting traffic & disappointing search engine algorithms. Neat & readable web pages attract more visitors.
Is your site mobile-friendly? Users, especially in eCommerce, want to view your website on their mobile phone. In fact, 72% of all people access the internet only from mobile phones. & Google knowingly prioritises mobile-friendly websites — sites designed with thumb reach & speed in mind. Let's help you sell more to mobile searchers.
Have you considered the user experience in your quest to dominate SERPs with SEO services?
How does Google choose which sites to rank?
Google ranks sites based on three key principles: Trust, Authority and Relevance.
Trust: Google wants to keep poor-quality, untrustworthy sites out of the search results, and keep high-quality, legitimate sites at the top.
Authority: This is your site's overall strength in your market and is almost a numbers game, based on backlinks and visitor numbers.
Relevance: Google looks at the contextual relevance off a site and rewards relevant sites with higher rankings. This levels the playing field a bit, and might explain why a niche site or local business can often rank higher than a Wikipedia article.
On-page & Off-page: What's the difference?
On-page SEO is the process of ensuring that your site is readable to search engines. It involves making sure your site content is visible to search engines and that Google picks up the keywords that you want. It involves making sure that the technical elements of your site are correct in addition to the content on your pages reflecting your desired keywords.
Unlike on page SEO where you have full control of the content, off-page SEO depends on another web page to improve your site's rankings on Google. Off-page (or off-site) optimisation primarily involves building links back to your site. This can be done organically (by producing fabulous content that people want to link back to) or by reaching out to high authority sites and asking them to put a link back to you on your site.
Due to the nature of the internet, webpages come and go so this is an ongoing process and really depends on obtaining new links that Google and the other search engines deem to be important. Done correctly, link building increases the traffic to your site and its position in Google.
How do you stay ahead of Google's updates?
Every now and then, Google releases a significant update to their algorithm, which can have a massive impact on businesses from any industry. We have a number of tried and trusted channels which keep us informed of these updates and what their focus is. This allows us to react accordingly and take any measures necessary to keep you ranking in that top spot.
How important is keyword research to SEO?
Firstly, if you rank your site highly for the wrong keywords, you can end up spending lots of time and effort, only to discover the keywords you have targeted in your SEO campaigns don't receive any organic traffic. Secondly, if you haven't investigated the competitiveness of your keywords, you can end up investing lots of time and effort into a particular keyword, only to find it is far too competitive to rank, even on the first page.
Does the usability of my site affect SEO?
Google are increasingly giving advantages to websites providing a good experience for users on all devices. Usability has increased importance in search engine optimisation and you can gain an advantage simply by making your website easy to use. We are one of the few SEO agencies that has a heavy focus on usability for SEO.
Why is link building so important to SEO?
Links are the currency of the world wide web. Each time a page links to another, it is a vote for the value of the page being linked to. Backlinks effectively pass authority from one website to another. If a page provides massive value to Internet users, it stands to reason it will be linked to from other websites. This is why links are such a strong factor in Google's algorithm.
How Does SEO Work for Businesses?
Before the internet was so prevalent, businesses only really needed to worry about their local marketing strategies. These days, every business has access to a global customer base, and SEO is how you market to those customers. Good SEO guarantees that more people click on your website than your competitors, meaning you're guaranteed to get more business and make higher profits.
What Part Do Keywords Play in SEO?
Keywords aren't the only factor that plays a part in your SEO optimisation, but it is arguably the biggest single factor at play. Keyword optimisation is important for SEO because it tells Google what your website and business are all about. If you run a barbershop, you need your website to be listed when someone searches for 'SEO expert'. Keywords are how you do that.
How Do I Fix My Site's Drop in the Google Rankings?
Maintaining SEO, or otherwise, is a constant uphill battle that requires regular updating and evolution. There are going to be times when you fall behind the competition, and, as a result, your ranking on Google drops.
If this happens to you, try not to worry. As a leading SEO consultant, we've helped countless business owners perform an SEO audit on various aspects of their websites, allowing them to identify what's going wrong and how to fix it. Get in touch with us, and we can arrange a full consultation so that we can figure out how to get you back into that number one spot.
How Can I Fix a Manual Penalty in Webmaster Tools?
Receiving a manual penalty from Google can result in a sudden and serious drop in your website's Google performance. Before you can fix it, you need to identify why you've been penalised in the first place.
To do that, navigate over to your website on Webmaster Tools. Access the Search Traffic drop-down menu from which you can click on Manual Actions. Here, you can see what actions Google's spam team has taken against you.
There are a few different manual penalties that you can violate, although all of them are fixable. The most common violation is an abundance of natural backlinks, in which case you need to either contact that sites that are hosting these backlinks or have an SEO expert, like me, do it on your behalf.
There are other penalties that you might unknowingly have incurred, such as having thin content or keyword stuffing. These are easily fixable compared to removing links, however.
Why Has My Website Disappeared from Google?
There are two main reasons why your website may have disappeared from Google, neither of which have anything to do with your SEO strategy.
The first is that you have received a penalty that has prevented your site from being ranked in the search results. This can be fixed using the method we talked about in the 'how to fix a manual penalty in Webmaster Tools question'.
The second is that your website has become the host for a virus. In this case, you're going to need to scan your site with an antivirus and take any measures that we deem necessary to clean it up and secure it for the future.
There are other potential causes, such as not renewing your hosting services, but that isn't an uncontrollable problem like the other two possibilities.
Which is the Better Investment, SEO or PPC?
PPC stands for Pay Per Click, and it is a method of digital advertising that allows you to pay money for better search listings as opposed to optimising your SEO.
There are a few different situations in which PPC is an applicable strategy, but the most common method of use is on Google result listings. When you Google for any particular business, the first few results are likely going to contain the word 'AD' next to them. These are PPC ads that are ranked higher than SEO optimised pages, but the website owner pays a fee to Google each time that ad is clicked on.
It's essentially a way of buying more website traffic and can be very valuable if done right.
The effectiveness of your PPC advertising has a lot to do with your conversion rates optimisation and sales funnel. You need the people clicking on your ad to actively bring funds into your business. Otherwise, you're wasting money on each click.
Overall, SEO is a better investment. It doesn't require you to pay a fee for each ad click, meaning that a well-put-together technically proficient SEO strategy can do what a PPC advertisement can without the fee involved.
That's not to say that PPC ads are useless, though, because there is definitely room for them in a lot of different business strategies.
Should I Focus on Local, National, or International Searches?
This is all dependent on the kind of business you're running. Your SEO strategy is going to give you a range of options and tools to target each type of audience, but there's no point in advertising internationally for your restaurant that's in you location.
If your business has a physical location that doesn't deliver or only delivers locally, then you should be aiming to dominate your local competitors in the SEO category.
If you're able to deliver your services around the county, or your service is specifically tailored to your geographic region, then you can focus on national search engine optimisation.
However, if you've got a business that can deliver a product or service that is in demand regardless of location, such as a blog, then you can aim to rank in international searches.
The more people you try to market to, the higher your potential reward is, but your exponentially increasing your competition. The difference in difficulty between ranking for the number one service and the entirety of England is night and day, let alone trying to get a global number one spot for a keyword.
Do Landing Pages Benefit SEO?
Technically, no. In reality, however, landing pages are a vital part of your SEO strategy. While your landing page doesn't directly impact your search engine optimisation rankings, it's important to have a well-built one so that you can both track visitor statistics and optimise your conversion rates.
A landing page gives you greater insight into the actions that visitors take on your website, including how long they spend browsing, where they go, or if they immediately close the site. You can then use this information to make the necessary changes so that your customers are doing what you need them to do, namely, either purchasing something from you or signing up to your email list.
What is Image Optimisation?
Image optimisation refers to a series of SEO tactics that you can employ to make any images or pictures on your websites SEO friendly. This mainly involves ensuring the image has things like alt text to make your user experience comprehensive.
Image optimisation also includes the practice of minimising your image file sizes without sacrificing quality. This allows your images and, by extension, your web page's content to load quicker, which should be a vital area of your overall website design and SEO strategy.
Which is Better HTTP or HTTPS for SEO?
HTTPS is universally better for SEO. Google uses the presence of HTTPS as a ranking signal, meaning it plays a part in how your website ranks regardless of whether or not your site needs an SSL certificate to transmit data.
What is On-Page Optimisation in SEO?
On-page is a search engine optimisation approach that involves everything on your own website. It refers to any actions you take on your site to enhance your SEO, meaning it is inclusive of almost all of your SEO tools and practices.
On-page optimisation includes things like ensuring the content on your web pages is Google-friendly, adding good meta descriptions to your posts, and tagging things correctly.
This directly contrasts the activities that fall under off-page SEO, which includes off-site marketing measures you take to attract visitors to your site. This includes things like social media and influencer marketing deals.
What is the More Important Marketing Priority, SEO, or Social Media?
This really depends on what kind of business you're running, or more precisely, who your target audience is.
As a rule of thumb, your SEO should take priority over your social media marketing, but that doesn't mean that you should ignore that area of your business altogether. If you want to maximise your results, then you need a comprehensive plan for both.
With social media, you're going to be reaching a generally younger audience through the use of alternative strategies. Social media doesn't revolve around SEO principles so much as it does other digital marketing techniques, meaning it's relatively incomparable to SEO optimisation.
SEO, on the other hand, is comprehensive as you are targeting Google keyword rankings as opposed to any specific target audience. It's a broader stroke of your marketing sword that can often yield more potent results than social media.
Which is the Best Tool for Checking a Website's Ranking?
There are a lot of different SEO-related tools out there. Most of them include methods to check your website's ranking, so what tool is the best for you depends on your budget for said tool.
High-end tools like SEMrush and AHrefs are incredibly comprehensive and are going to give you the most accurate rankings, but there are more affordable options that are dedicated purely to ranking reports out there.
Enterprise SEO - What is it?
Enterprise SEO is an SEO approach that involves a large scale attempt to align your business goals with your marketing and SEO endeavours. The idea of an enterprise SEO approach is that it is going to maximise the impact of your brand on your online marketing field while fortifying your reputation.
It's one of the best practices for large businesses looking to optimise SEO practices to deliver results that are in line with the scale of the business itself. my expert SEO team has worked on countless enterprise SEO projects, so feel free to get in touch if you have any questions about this specific approach to search engine optimisation.
How Do I Write Engaging Meta Descriptions for SEO?
The meta description is the first thing that your potential customers look at after your title. It gives them a better idea of what type of content the web page is about and is typically a key part of attracting visitors to your site. So, needless to say, it's important to write a good one.
Writing a good meta description is as much of an art as it is a science, but we do have four tips that you can follow to be guaranteed an engaging meta description every single time:
- Reuse your title.
To a certain extent, try to reuse your title in your meta description so that you can reinforce what the post is about. If you're answering a specific question, consider asking that question in the meta description.
- Include keywords.
Make sure you're including at least your main keyword in your meta description. If the description contains the exact phrase that your potential client has searched for, the chances of them clicking on your post increases exponentially.
- Include a call to action.
Call to action is one of those critical SEO techniques that are found in every area of your SEO campaign, including the meta description. Call on the visitor to click on your page to find out the answer to their question, and chances are they're going to do just that.
- Keep it between 150-155 characters.
Your meta description only has a limited amount of space to work with, so aim to get your message across in less than 155 characters.
Does Building Links Help with SEO?
Yes, link building helps dramatically with SEO and is a part of my SEO strategies. Link building involves generating backlinks for your website, which is to say, getting other web pages to feature links to yours.
This link building tells Google that your website is reputable and trustworthy enough to be used as a citation which helps with your search result rankings dramatically.
How Long Do SEO Practices Take to Work?
It generally takes your SEO strategy four to six months before it starts generating results. From that point, your website and business should see a snowball effect that results in continuous growth as a result of your SEO practices.
How Can I Become an SEO Professional?
SEO, as well as the wider world, is treated as a science. There are algorithms, rules, and conventions that you need to observe in all the SEO tactics you carry out. As a result, becoming an SEO professional requires a certain level of SEO education.
There are plenty of online courses that can teach you various aspects of SEO, but no single one is enough to generate experts. You need to keep up to date with current practices and make sure you're constantly learning. Once you have that knowledge under your belt, you can start working with SEO agencies or freelance as an SEO professional.
What is the Best Number of Keywords to Use Per Page?
Two or three keywords are all you need to optimise any content on your website. Going over that limit crowds your pages and pushes you into keyword stuffing territory.
What number of each of those three keywords you use in the text, however, is a much more subjective story. The amount you should be using is determined by the word count of the piece of text you or your content writers are optimising, so there's no one size fits all answer.
What Are the Best Tips for On-Page SEO?
On-page SEO makes up the majority of your SEO strategy and is arguably the most important area of your website to optimise.
On-page optimisation is how you generate organic traffic and directly influence your authority and search engine rankings. However, there's a lot that goes into your on-page optimisation, hence the presence of professionals like my SEO team.
That being said, some general tips for better on-page optimisation is to make sure your content is optimised correctly. Whether you're running a blog for personal use or content marketing, you need to be using the right number of keywords, as well as the right keywords in the first place.
To that end, make sure you (or your content writers) are doing the right kind of keyword research. my SEO experts and content writers can take care of this for you, but if you want to handle business yourself, you're going to need to use SEO tools to make sure you're picking keywords that have low competition and high search volumes.
Aside from that trip, just make sure your HTML is optimised and that your title and meta description are following all the necessary SEO rules.
How Do I Increase Traffic to My Website?
There are several different types of Google website traffic. For your purposes, you should focus on organic traffic. This is one of the most important and results-yielding types of website traffic while also being the simplest to achieve. my SEO team of professionals can help optimise your website for other types of traffic should you need my search engine optimisation services.
Organic traffic refers to visitors that find your site naturally through Google. It is directly influenced by your place in Google search results. So, the best way to increase traffic to your website is to rank higher in those search results. The easiest way to do that is to optimise your website's SEO.
How Do I Improve the Speed of My Website?
Website load speed is one of the lesser thought-about parts of your business, and yet it's arguably the most important.
The difference between winning a customer and losing one can be an extra second on your load time, at which point visitors start clicking off your website. People are impatient on the internet, so your websites need to account for that.
If you want to improve the speed of your website, there are a number of things you can do. For starters, you should optimise all your images, as we talked about in the 'image optimisation' FAQ. You should also make sure that your site is hosted on a quality server. Decreasing the number of plugins, Javascript, and CSS files connected to your site is also going to help keep those load times low.
How is Google Analytics Linked with SEO?
Google Analytics doesn't affect the results of your SEO campaigns. Instead, it's a free tool that you use to monitor said campaigns. We recommend Google analytics to all of my SEO clients that are looking for advice rather than me to manage their SEO campaigns.
Using Analytics lets, you see what your visitors are doing, as well as how your keywords are performing. It's a vital tool in every SEO content marketing business's toolbox.
Is W3C Validation Important in SEO?
Yes, it is. W3C validation helps you to identify and fix any errors you might have in your website's code. These errors can completely cripple your SEO plans before you've even started. W3C validation helps you to avoid these errors and keep your website running well while ranking highly in those Google search results.
Does Social Media Affect SEO?
Not really. Social media and SEO are two sides of the same content marketing coin. Both are methods that SEO experts use to help you outrank your opposition, including me when we work with my SEO clients.
Social media is another channel through which you can solidify your brand identity as well as generate more traffic to your website. It doesn't affect your on-page optimisation, but it is a part of your off-page optimisation.
Can Adwords Help with SEO?
Technically, no. Google Adwords is the portal through which businesses create PPC advertisement campaigns. PPC is disconnected from your SEO, so running paid ads is not going to affect your organic SEO. At least, not directly.
Is There a Favourite SEO Technique You Use?
Not particularly. While each member of my marketing services team has their own tricks of the trade that they are fond of, there is no one single favourite of the entire agency.
That being said, one particular technique that we all agree is incredibly useful is balancing out the ratio of searches to competition on all of your keywords. By coming up with your own parameters for these two figures, your keyword research is going to become a whole lot easier.
How Do I Create an SEO Friendly URL?
If you want to make your URLs SEO friendly, you need to keep them short and keyword-rich. Only use subdomains if necessary, and make sure you're using HTTPS rather than HTTP.
What is Google's Mobile-First Index, and How Does This Effect SEO?
Google's mobile-first index refers to how Google uses the mobile version of your web pages in its indexing and ranking. In other words, it's incredibly important that your search engine optimisation and website are designed to work on mobile devices. It needs to be dynamic so that the formatting of the page fits the dimensions of any screen it's being displayed on.
This affects your SEO in one big way, and that's by making mobile-friendly content necessary. If your website isn't designed for mobile users, all the SEO in the world isn't going to help your search results ranking.
What is the Difference Between SEO and PPC?
Every SEO consultant, as well as any SEO agencies internationally, should be using both SEO as well as PPC as a part of your website's SEO campaign. There isn't a single marketing manager from any marketing agency that wouldn't recommend a combination of both for your business.
That being said, if you have to pick one, make it SEO. The biggest difference between the two is that SEO is how you optimise your content to rank in the search results naturally, whereas PPC is when you pay to have your website at the top of those results.
